I started freelancing back in 2007/2008, can’t know for sure the exact date. I think it was in the ends of 2007. Either way, I had just finished high school and I started doing some works for some friends and then a few weeks later I got my first client, Yellow-Stripe, which to this day I’m very thankful for the trust and opportunity they gave me, 6 years later I still work with them, pretty awesome.
So, when I started freelance, I started, as most of us, from my parents house. My friends loved that idea “What?! You can wake up and work on your pajamas? Man, that’s sick!” Yes, it was. At least for the first year. Then I started feeling like a hobo, slaving away in my pajamas, 30cm away from my bed.
So, in 2012 when I moved in with my girlfriend I decided to keep my work place at my parents house in their attic, since I had more space there and I like the whole ‘routine’ of waking up, taking a shower, getting on my clothes and get to work.
Now, I have different plans for my future. As a freelancer I work via email and the internet with 95% of my clients, but I’m starting to get more and more personal meetings with local clients, and it’s really awkward to receive them at my parents house, so I decided I needed to get my own studio.
Today, we signed the papers and I bought a new place. Couldn’t be more stoked. Now I have at least two months of construction work ahead of me.
With this page turn, I’ll introduce a few more changes in my branding. I have a new logo design done and trademarked and I’m nearly finished on my new website design. Can’t wait to show you all this. I’m excited as I was on day one, when I got my first gig and this is why I love what I do.
I’ll keep you posted.
